The John Deere 4020 was an agricultural tractor model built by John Deere Manufacturing company from 1964 to 1972.
John Deere 4020 replaced the nearly identical John Deere 4010 introduced with Deere’s New Generation series in 1960 and offered several improvements over the previous tractor model, including heavier rear axles, more horsepower, and a differential lock.
The John Deere 4020 was produced with three engine choices: petrol, diesel, and LPG. The John Deere 4020 Diesel tractor is equipped with a six-cylinder engine tested at 84 drawbars and 91 PTO horsepower.
John Deere’s Syncro Range transmission system with 8 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds as standard, a power shift transmission system was optional. Other choices included dual rear wheels and an enclosed cab with air conditioning and heat.
The John Deere 4020 tractor is significant for its excellent popularity; over 184,000 units were produced. John Deere 4020 was the most popular tractor of its time.
